“This app is done very well and it gets two thumbs up but I wish there was more offered. This tool is limited to 26 “peeks” – one flashcard for each letter of the alphabet. It would be nice to have several sets from which to choose.”
If I find any more letters, I’ll be sure to update the app! =)
Kidding of course. We have an update in dev to allow random access to the letters, which I hope brings a second dimension to the game.
Our newest app Number Peek is now available in the App Store. Number Peek is the sequel to our popular Letter Peek game. Each of the 20 numbers is shown in upper and lower case. When you tap each number, they curl up revealing something starting with the number. A male or female voice then says the number along with what is being revealed, depending on which voice you prefer.
You can find Number Peek in the App Store or follow this link to learn more.
What a nice surprise to see Zoo Sounds shown on Playgrounder, one of my favorite kids sites. For those of you who don’t know, Playgrounder is a new website/magazine featuring some of the coolest kids stuff I’ve seen. They post a few new items daily with huge photos so you can see all the details. Definitely worth checking out and subscribing to the RSS, I’ve already found a few Xmas presents for my daughter.
If you haven’t picked up Zoo Sounds yet, we just released an update to most of our apps which allows you to download them over 3G, no more wireless required. Check out Tantrum Apps on the App Store for more info.
Letter Quiz Lite has been climbing the charts the last few days, currently #62 on the Top Educational Games. To get more people to upgrade, we’re dropping the price of the paid version of Letter Quiz to $.99 for a limited time.
Letter Quiz presents each of the 26 letters alongside 3 random letters. A voice then is played asking your child to “Touch the letter” shown. If the wrong letter is touched, the device vibrates and plays a random sound. If the correct letter is touched, the card flips over to reveal an object starting with the letter. If they make it through all 26 letters, a trophy as a prize!
If you have a 2 year old learning their letters, this is the perfect app for you.
I spent a lot of time over the last few months learning how to better develop iPhone apps. I’ve completely rewritten my most popular app Zoo Sounds with a focus on speed. I was so blown away by this comparison, I had to post a video demonstrating it.
Version 1.1.1 was faster than version 1.1, and it launched in 5 seconds flat. Version 1.2, which has been submitted to the App Store today, shaves 70% off that launch time, loading in just 1.5 seconds!
Look for the other Sounds apps to get the same update over the next few weeks.
I’m happy to report, the free version of Letter Peek is slowly moving up the Top 100. As of this post, it’s number 54 on the Top Free Educational Games and number 92 on the Top Free Kids Games. As a result, the pay version of Letter Peek is number 60 on the Top Paid Education Games. As you can imagine, I’m really excited about this.
I could really use some help pushing these apps up the charts. If you have an iPhone, please do me a favor and “buy” (free) Letter Peek Lite today. Every download counts, if it can get in the top 50 it should get some great visibility and move even faster up the charts.

Letter Quiz makes learning your ABCs fun. This is our first game designed for older toddlers, age 2 and up recommended. The gameplay is vert intuitive; 4 letters are shown and a voice asks to “Touch the Letter A.” Tapping the correct letter flips the card over to show an object starting with the letter. Then the next cards slide in. If you get all 26 right, you win a prize!
This game is currently the top requested app from my daughter. “Letter game, Letter game” is all I hear when I pull out the iPhone. She’s 26 months now, and a little quick on learning her letters, which is why it’s rated for kids 2yo and up.
We’ll have a free version available soon so you can test it out before purchasing. Also should have a demo of it being played online this weekend.
I’m proud to report our newest app “Letter Peek” is now available in the iTunes App Store. This is the first of our Peek series of games. When you tap each letter, they curl up revealing something starting with the letter. A male or female voice then says the letter along with what is being revealed, depending on which voice you prefer.
After 3 months of development, we’re happy to report that our next game “Letter Peek” has been submitted to the App Store for approval. My daughter is two now and she’s started learning the alphabet. Naturally we needed to develop an app to help her learn and interact with the letters.
Letter Peek displays each of the letters in upper and lower case. Tapping on the letter curls up the page to reveal something starting with that letter. So, tap the A and you’ll see an Apple for a few seconds, then it’ll curl back down. We’ve also recorded males and female voices to go along with the reveal, saying the letter and the reveal.
This is a great game not only for teaching your child the letters, but the names of the things revealed. My daughter knows 90% of the objects now by name and repeats along with the voice. She can now ask for an apple, point out a house. It’s been a great tool for us.
Here’s a quick preview of the app in action. Full length video will come in the next few weeks. I hope Letter Peek will be available for sale by the first week of September.
I’ve been working on a new game teaching my daughter the alphabet and learned some new ways to optimize the code. This will make launching the games much faster, which for a father with a crying child, every second counts. Look for these upgrades to all Sounds apps over the next few weeks.
